Tranmere on Wikipedia.

Church @ The Cross (Methodist) on Church Road, as seen by Streetview in 2024. Old O.S. maps show a Wesleyan Methodist Chapel on the site. SJ 3194 8771. Link.

King's Church (2009 Streetview) on Victoria Fields, a former school. SJ 3144 8772. Link.

A former Meeting Room (2016 Streetview) stands on Harrowby Road on a map of 1955 at SJ 3146 8761. Now a martial arts centre, the map doesn't say who met here, perhaps Brethren.

The site of the demolished Mount Tabor Primitive Methodist Chapel on Holt Road, as seen by Streetview in 2025 and 2009. Several old photos of the chapel can be seen here, where it's dated to 1879, although Genuki says 1872, closing in 1965.

Tranmere U.R.C. (originally Congregational) stood on Old Chester Road at SJ 3251 8718. Built no later than 1909, it was closed and demolished only fairly recently. Streetviews show it in 2009 (looks active), 2015 (perhaps closed) and 2016 (demolished); the housing on the site had been built by August 2017.

St. Catherine (2022 Streetview) on Church Road . Two more Streetviews from 2025 - 1, 2.  SJ 3189 8748. Link. The history page says there was a church on the same site from 1831, "a simple brick building with rectangular windows and a short tower at the west end". Grade II listed - dates it to 1831 (implying that the original church still survives, at least in part, within the present building), with later enlargements and alterations.

St. Catherine's Hospital used to have a private Chapel, standing almost behind St. Catherine's Church, at SJ 3183 8751. In a Streetview from 2024 the site of the chapel lies beneath the nearer part of the health centre and the adjacent open area. Part of St. Catherine's Church can be seen at the left.

St. Joseph (R.C.) on North Road and Willowbank Road, as seen by Streetview in 2025, and in 2022. SJ 3153 8738. Link includes numerous interior photos. Grade II listed, wherein it's dated to 1899-1900.

St. Luke was on Old Chester Road at SJ 3245 8789. Pevsner dates it to 1881, Genuki says founded in 1883, and closed 1971. Demolished at some point, its site was seen by Streetview in 2009.

Another vanished church is St. Michael and All Angels, which stood on Carlton Road. An old directory which describes it as a red brick building dates it to 1896 (chancel and transepts), completed with a nave in 1907. A 2025 Streetview looks towards the site of the south door, and another would have seen the East end from the side. SJ 3123 8767.

St. Paul (Presbyterian) stood on North Road. Pevsner dates it to 1899-1900. It was replaced by housing, seen by Streetview in 2024. SJ 3164 8735.
