Corringham, Fobbing. Fresh Hope Community Church (2024 Streetview) is on Victoria Road. TQ 6849 8277. It stands back to back with another building which is labelled as Chapel (Peculiar People) on O.S. maps of the late 19th century, when the present building hadn't yet been built. Presumably this is the present church's immediate predecessor. It was seen by Streetview in 2024, and stands on Southend Road. Link. The former Methodist Church (2024 Streetview) is on High Street. Older maps label it as Wesleyan. TQ 6851 8237. It was bought in 2023 with the intention of changing it into Stanford Jamme Masjid - link. Our Lady and St. Joseph (R.C.) is on Southend Road and Scratton Road, and was seen by Streetview in 2024. TQ 6854 8262. Link. The history page dates its consecration to 1993, replacing an earlier church of the same site of the early 20th century. It includes a photo of the earlier church.
St. Margaret of Antioch, of
Norman foundation, restored in Victorian times. It still retains much earlier stonework,
and some fine carvings, tombs and monuments of the Fetherston and Scratton families.
