Bow, Greater London

Bow on Wikipedia.

The Baptist Church on Payne Road. Signage implies that a community of Chinese Baptists also worships here. TQ 3772 8305. © Chris Kippin (2022). Link. The history page has photos of two of its predecessors, on the same site.

Guardian Angels Church (R.C.) on Mile End Road at TQ 3633 8248. The church history page dates it to 1903 on the site of an earlier chapel of 1868, originally Salem Congregational. © Chris Kippin (2022). Link. Grade II listed.

The Methodist Church is on Bow Road and Merchant Street. Evidently post-WWII, it stands on the site of an earlier church. That can be seen in pre-war film footage (follow the Bow Mission Film link from here - it's at about 6 minutes in). It's dated to 1865 (Wesleyan) here, with the present church dated to 1951. New Testament Church of God (Epainos Ministries) meets in part of the former Holy Trinity on Morgan Street. Chris advises that there are plans to turn the building into an arts centre. Whether this will mean that the N.T.C.G. will have to move is not clear. TQ 3646 8278. © Chris Kippin (2022). Some interior views can be seen here and here. Grade II listed, wherein it's dated to 1836-9.

Our Lady and St. Catherine of Siena (R.C.) on Bow Road. TQ 3757 8295. From an old postcard in Reg Dosell's collection. A modern view, © Chris Kippin (2022). Link. Grade II listed.

St. Mary & Holy Trinity (aka St. Mary atte Bow and Bow-in-the-Road) on Bow Road. Its grade II* listing calls it St. Mary Stratford Bow, and has interior photos. Another view. TQ 3767 8296. Both © Chris Kippin (2022). Link.
